Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Tallahassee is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Traffic in Tallahassee peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. I recently graduated from FSU but I have been going to the Sweet shop since my first year. This establishment is run by a hard working family who really care about the Florida state community. They have a large selection of food items. Their breakfast sandwiches and smoothies were my favorite items to order and they always delivered. Students are always here studying or just stopping in between classes for something to eat. Some people say disrespectful things about the owner that are just not true. Everytime I stopped in he always greeted me with a smile and would ask me how I was doing which always made me feel appreciated. One time when my credit card got declined he even payed for my meal I was in disbelief at the kindness. I am truly grateful for my time at FSU and the Sweet shop.

i really wanted to go here for my birthday since it was near our hotel and looked delicious. however, when we got there we had to pay for parking. $6 but it was fine. we walked to the front and there was a big sign saying "on break, we are closed" .. we waited and waited after paying $6 for the parking. and nobody showed up, even after calling the store. just a big let down for something that seemed so good. also the replies from the owner to the reviews are very rude and strange. probably wouldnt recommend

You will not find a better value for food in a 10 mile radius! Portion sizes are generous for the price with anything you getβ¦foodβ¦coffeeβ¦snacks. They have order kiosks so youβre in and out quick! If you choose to eat in, youβll be surrounded by a warm college-town charm. The A/C is cold and itβs clean inside. Donβt expect Michelin recommended dining. This is hearty, tasty, affordable, and convenient food when you need to fuel up before going about your day.

My husband and I wanted to try this restaurant after visiting our daughter at FSU. Our daughter, Mackenzie, had warned us about the service here, describing the owner as a βbridge trollβ (direct quote from her, by the way- not my words), but we pushed it aside as an overreaction and went anyways. My husband and I are huge boba fans but I have a dietary restriction that does not allow me to consume dairy products. When I was ordering my food at the kiosk, I saw that they only offered milk as a base. Because of my dietary restriction, I asked the man (black glasses, middle aged) who was working if he could replace the milk in my boba with tea. He looked up at me like I had suggested I drank his own saliva and said βthatβs going to be nasty.β I was humiliated. And my daughter was correct on calling him a bridge troll. I know I sound rude right now, but there is something called karma that I believe in and the rude way he treated me deserves a comeback. My husband was completely in shock as well. Im not normally one to rate restaurants at all, but If I could, I would rate this place 0 stars. I would not recommended unless you want your day ruined by these awful staff. I could not warn

The sweet shops seems like a place full of history and a long tradition, but it is simply an ugly and rundown place. Is is so unwelcoming, lacks any kind of charm or warmth, it often smells like a wet mop. And the drinks are honestly just ok. I appreciate the history of the place and their walls full of scribbles could be charming if the rest of the place was nicer, but paired with the old furniture it just seems like the place was vandalized.
